What Is the Fill The Boot Fun Run?

The Fill The Boot Fun Run is the biggest fundraiser we hold all year, and it's easily one of the most fun days on our calendar. In the weeks leading up to it, students collect pledges from family and friends online. On Event Day, every grade takes to the playground to run their laps while parents, teachers, and classmates cheer them on.

Our 4th and 5th graders get something extra: the Color Run, a Riojas tradition just for our older grades. It's exactly what it sounds like. Students run their laps while volunteers shower them with clouds of bright colored powder, and they cross the finish line covered head to toe. It's messy in the best possible way!

Nearly everything our PTO does throughout the year is made possible by this one event. Every celebration, every program, and every extra we're able to give our students and teachers.

We run the event in partnership with our school and with Boosterthon, who handle sign-ups, prizes, and the setup on Event Day. Everything else is done by Riojas parents: the promotion, the volunteers, and the prize deliveries to classrooms. Handling that ourselves keeps our costs down, which means more of every dollar raised stays right here on our campus.

Students earn prizes throughout the fundraiser, and every student receives a commemorative t-shirt to wear on Event Day, funded entirely by our business sponsors at no cost to families. As an added bonus, 10% of what we raise goes back to our teachers, with each grade level's share going to that grade's own teaching staff to spend on classroom supplies, field trips, and whatever their students need most.

Every student runs on Event Day, and every family can be part of this. The single easiest way to help is to share your student's page: a quick text or post to grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends is what makes the biggest difference.

Share

Send your student's page to grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends. A quick text or social post is where most donations come from, and supporters can be anywhere in the country.

Earn Prizes

​Students earn prizes throughout the fundraiser, with daily challenges and character lessons at school to keep the energy up all the way to Event Day.

Event Day

​Every grade hits the playground to run their laps. Families are welcome to come cheer, and every student takes home a commemorative t-shirt. Event Day Schedule TBD.

HELP HAND OUT PRIZES

Students earn prizes throughout the fundraiser, and every day those prizes need to be sorted and delivered to classrooms. We need 1 Lead and 3 volunteers each day to make that happen.

Every Riojas student gets a Fun Run t-shirt with our sponsors' logos on it, and they wear them all year! If you own a business or no someone who does, it's year-round visibility and a direct way to support our students.
